My involvement with Samaria Mission began around 1999 when my father went on a short term (two week) outreach into Mozambique. He returned and suggested that I go as well because I would “love it”. A few years later in 2005 I finally decided to go on an outreach. However, instead of staying for the normal two weeks I stayed an additional four weeks to serve with the two teams. During my six weeks I saw, met, and served among an unreached people group called the Shangaan. There I also saw the need to reach these precious people with the gospel. I returned in 2006 and again in 2008 to serve for the entire summer. You can check out their website at: http://samariamission.net/.
Samaria Mission is a ministry, a faith mission, working from the platform of the local church, with the task to be obedient to the great commission by effectively becoming involved in the process of church planting through evangelism, discipleship, church development and social upliftment.
This is the testimony I wrote for their website. You can check out the others here.
I have spent time over the course of three summers (’05, ’06, & ’08) serving as a short-term staffer with Samaria Mission. In my time with the Mission I have learned and experienced many new things. I have also built friendships that will surely last a lifetime. But by far the most important thing that has come from my time is a heart for the nations and fulfilling the Great Commission. SM has taught me what it means to be “on mission with God” for which I am forever grateful. SM nurtured my heart for unreached people groups, not only in Sub-Saharan Africa, but also all over the world! It is a privilege to serve with these men and woman who are dedicated to reaching the Shangaan for the glory of Christ and I look forward to serving alongside them in the coming months and years.
